HobbyForce was chosen as the 2008 Hobby Store of the Year by the National Retail Hobby Stores Association (NRHSA) and Model Retailer Magazine. The award was presented in Las Vegas on April 23rd, 2008 during the NRHSA annual convention. Those in attendance from HobbyForce included Arnie Clawson (Owner), Noel Bays (Store Manager), and Dennis & Patricia Clawson (Arnie's father and mother... Dennis also works at the store).
Model Retailer Magazine, an industry trade publication, will feature HobbyForce in an in-depth article in an upcoming issue of it's magazine. The magazine also provided round trip airfare and accommodations for two to the Vegas convention as a part of the award.
During the award presentation, Hal Miller (Editor of Model Retailer Magazine) stated that HobbyForce was selected for several reasons including an entrepreneurial spirit, a knack for creative promotion, and community involvement.
HobbyForce is a full line hobby store specializing in radio control airplanes, helicopters, cars, trucks, and boats. HobbyForce also carries kites, model rockets, metal detectors, puzzles, toys, doll houses, plastic models, trains, telescopes, science supplies, and more.
HobbyForce is locally owned and operated by Arnie Clawson, a Richland County native. “I've got to give credit to my store manager Noel Bays and the rest of the staff for making this achievement possible” said Arnie. “It's our passion for outstanding customer service that sets us apart.”
Despite a challenging economy, HobbyForce recently (October 2007) relocated from it's former location in the West Park Shopping Center in Mansfield to a larger storefront in the heart of Ontario's retail district. The new 4800 square foot store is across from the Richland Mall in the Town & Country Shopping Center right beside Petland, just down from Old Navy at W4th Street and Lexington Springmill Road.
